VIP/I – Incident Monitor (EDGE)The Indoor – Outdoor Module for Flow Monitoring &KEY BENEFITSVIP/I - Incident MonitorThe VIP/I combines indoor/outdoor traffic flow monitoring and automatic incident detectionfunctionality all in one single board. The VIP/I automatically generates alarms for a wide range of events, going from wrong-waydrivers, over speed drop to stopped vehicles or even deteriorating image quality. Acorresponding output immediately becomes activated.During set-up, the user can easily specify the type of event for which he wants to trigger analarm. He can define under what conditions to do so. He can even decide on the amount ofinformation to be displayed on the monitor. All of these options are available via an extremely user-friendly, menu-driven set-up procedureusing a VIP keypad or portable PC. The convenience of a remote set-up via the VICCOM andthe WATTS PC software is also possible. All alarms and flow data can be permanently monitored over a serial port.» Indoor AND outdoor» Flow monitoring AND Incident detection» High reliability» Fast detection» Accurate low speed measurement» Low false alarm frequencyFLOW MONITORING» Distinction between different types oftraffic flow» Speed drop & wrong-way driversINCIDENT DETECTION» Wide range of programmable alarmevents to notify the operatorIncident DetectionThe VIP/I detects vehicles stopping in the detectionarea within seconds.Up to 8 detection groups can be placed in themonitored area.Reported alarm events include queue, stoppedvehicle, wrong-way driver, speed drop, smoke or fogand video failure.Flow MonitoringThe VIP/I monitors both the traffic flow speed and the zone occupancy for up to 8 lanes. It automatically distinguishes 5 types of traffic flow (levels of service) based on flow speed andzone occupancy.Within seconds it detects wrong-way drivers or sudden speed variations.

VIP/I – Incident Monitor (EDGE)The Indoor – Outdoor Module for Flow Monitoring &Automatic Incident DetectionTYPICAL INSTALLATION» For a typical installation, several VIP boards (possibly serving different types of applications)are integrated into a 19” rack.» Communication options of the boards are serial (RS232-RS485) and open collector outputs.» A VICCOM board ensures data and image transfer together with pre- and post-incidentinformation to a remote traffic control center.» The communication board uses dialup or leased lines, fiber optic or other means forcommunication.» On the host computer at the control center, the WATTS PC software (Wide Area TrafficTelematics Server) monitors the detection systems.Dimensions• TS 2 compatible card rack unitsSerial Ports• RS-232C service ports for setup, datacollection & firmware updateInputs• Composite video 75Ω1Vtt CCIR/EIA• Power Supply• Reset & recall button on front panelOutputs• Analog video output with overlay ofsystem info data & detection lines• Autodiagnostic LED indicators• VIP/I Main board: 4 optically isolatedopen- collector outputs• Expansion modules 2 I/O & 4 I/O: 2or 4 digital in/outputs (with dipswitches for selection of in/ outputs)Connector• Double row 22 pins EDGE (NEMA TS2-1992)Power Supply & Consumption• 10.8v to 26.5v DC• VIP/I with 160mA at 24v• 4 I/O with 30mA at 24vEnvironmental• -34°C to +74°C• 0 to 95% relative humidity - noncondensingINCIDENT DETECTION» VIP/I detects vehicles stopping in the detection area within seconds.» Up to 8 detection groups can be placed within the monitored area.» VIP/I generates alarms for a wide range of events:» Queue» Stopped vehicles» Wrong-way driver» Speed drop» Smoke or fog» Video failure» For each alarm, a corresponding output can be defined.» During set-up, alarm levels can be programmed for» Flow speed» Speed drop» Zone Occupancy» Stopped vehicle (alarm time on – alarm time off)» Image quality» During set-up, alarms can be enabled or disabled for a specific type of traffic flow (e.g. nostopped vehicle alarms during queue conditions).FLOW MONITORING» VIP/I monitors traffic flow speed between 0 and 150 km/h for up to 8 lanes.» VIP/I monitors the zone occupancy of the detection area.» VIP/I automatically distinguishes 5 types of traffic flow (levels of service) based on flowspeed and zone occupancy.» VIP/I detects both wrong-way drivers and sudden speed variations within seconds.Data subject to alternation without notice or obligation.WESTERN USA: Kar-Gor Inc – 2769 19th Street, S.E. – Salem, OR 970302 – Phone: 503 315-9899 – E-mail: kargor@aol.comTRAFICON USA: 10161 Park Run Drive, Suite 150 – Las Vegas, NV 89145 – Phone: 702 851-5880 – E-mail: traficon@traficonusa.comEASTERN USA: Control Technologies Inc – 2776 South Financial Court – Sanford, FL 32773 – Phone: 407 330-2800 – E-mail:cttraffic@aol.com
