At 9.15 a.m., Bhagavanlighted <strong>the</strong> sacred lamp on <strong>the</strong> da<strong>is</strong> to mark <strong>the</strong>inauguration of Ashadi Ekadasi celebrations.For nearly one hour, Bhagavan l<strong>is</strong>tened to <strong>the</strong>chanting of Vedic hymns by <strong>the</strong> youth, bothboys and girls, of Maharashtra and Goa whowere seated in front of <strong>the</strong> da<strong>is</strong>. The perfectionin rhythm and intonation of <strong>the</strong>se Vedic chantsby <strong>the</strong> youth earned <strong>the</strong> admiration ofone and all and suffused <strong>the</strong> entire milieu withsacred vibrations. At 10.00 a.m., Arati wasoffered to Bhagavan to mark <strong>the</strong> conclusionof th<strong>is</strong> excellent demonstration of Vedachanting.Vocal Devotional Music ConcertOn <strong>the</strong> evening of 1st July 2009, devoteesin <strong>Sai</strong> Kulwant Hall had a sumptuous musicalfeast of devotional music when Smt. KalapiniKomkali, a veteran Hindustani classical singer,presented her devotional music concert in <strong>the</strong>Divine Presence of Bhagavan. Daughter andd<strong>is</strong>ciple of celebrated Hindustani classicalsinger, Pandit Kumar Gandharva, Smt.Komkali not <strong>only</strong> inherited Gwalior Gayaki(style of singing) from her illustrious fa<strong>the</strong>r buth<strong>is</strong> musical genius also, which she exhibitedin <strong>the</strong> concert presented by her. The concertwas a beautiful medley of <strong>the</strong> compositions ofMira, Kabir, Gorakhnath and Tukaram, and all<strong>the</strong> songs she sang were those sung by herillustrious fa<strong>the</strong>r Pandit Kumar Gandharva, asshe announced in <strong>the</strong> beginning. The concertwhich started at 5.10 p.m. after Bhagavan’sDarshan in <strong>Sai</strong> Kulwant Hall kept <strong>the</strong> audiencespellbound for nearly one hour and came to aclose at 6.05 p.m. At <strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong> concert,Bhagavan blessed <strong>the</strong> art<strong>is</strong>te, gave a silk Sarito her and material<strong>is</strong>ed a gold chain for her.He also d<strong>is</strong>tributed clo<strong>the</strong>s to <strong>the</strong> art<strong>is</strong>tes whoprovided instrumental support to her.
