After the distributionof Prasadam, Arati was offered to Bhagavan at7.30 p.m., marking the conclusion of the day’sprogramme.Felicitation of Senior FunctionariesOn the auspicious day of Guru Purnima,on 7th July 2009, Bhagavan fi lled the heartsof hundreds of thousands yearning devoteesin Sai Kulwant Hall with bliss when He blessedthem with His Divine Darshan at 10.00 a.m.Sacred Vedic chants, blowing of conches andsweet Nadaswaram notes welcomed Bhagavanwhen He came to the hall in a sparkling yellowrobe. After completing His Darshan round,Bhagavan came to the verandah wherehuge cakes were placed amidst fabulousdecorations. Bhagavan graciously lightedcandles on the cakes and performed the cakecutting ceremony.On this holy day of Guru Purnima, Bhagavanfelicitated four senior functionaries who servedin Bhagavan’s institutions with total dedication.They were: Sri A.V. Appa Rao, Controller ofFinance, Accounts and Stores, Sri SathyaSai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences,Prasanthi Nilayam; Prof. M. Nanjundaiah,Controller of Examinations, Sri Sathya SaiUniversity; Sri A.V. Sathyanarayana Murthy,Senior Engineer, Sri Sathya Sai Instituteof Higher Medical Sciences and Prof. A.V.Lakshminarasimham, Registrar, Sri SathyaSai University. At the outset, Sri Anil Kumar, afaculty member of the university, paid glowingtributes to these functionaries by way ofintroduction and called upon Sri AppaOn the auspicious day of Guru Purnima,Bhagavan felicitated four retiring functionariesand showered His blessings on them.Rao and Prof. Nanjundaiah along with theirwives as well as Prof. Lakshminarasimham andSri Sathyanarayana Murthy to be seated onthe dais. All of them were thereafter garlandedamidst a loud applause of devotees.Two speakers addressed the gathering onthis occasion. The fi rst speaker was Dr. A.N.Safaya, Director, Sri Sathya Sai Institute ofHigher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram.Thanking Sri Appa Rao for the valuablehelp he rendered at the initial stages of thehospital, Dr. Safaya stated that Sri AppaRao not only managed the accounts of thehospital without even a single blemish but alsocompiled the book of rules which became astandard reference for other hospitals also.He also praised Sri Sathyanarayana Murthyfor maintaining the air conditioning system ofthe hospital with exemplary promptness andeffi ciency.
