Bhaktivedanta Swami PrabhupadaLadies and gentlemen, thank youvery much for coming here toparticipate in this Krishna consciousnessmovement. We are callingeveryone to go back to home, back to Godhead. Just now [in thesong, Jaya Rādhā Mādhava] wedescribed the place where we intend to go —Goloka Vrindavan. There, the Supreme Personalityof Godhead is residing with his consortRadharani. Krishna is the husband — not exactlya husband, but a friend. Just as a boy andgirlfriend here try to enjoy an extra ecstasy ofconjugal love without being married, so the idealof example of conjugal love is found in Krishnaand Radha. Here in the mundane world thesame thing is present, but in a perverted sense. The origin is in Radha and Krishna. Jaya rādhāmādhavakuñja-vihārī — they are always engagedin loving affairs in the bushes ofVrindavan. Gopījana-vallabha — Krishna is verydear to the gopīs and the gopas. “Gopas” meansthe cowherd men and the cowherd boys.Vrindavan is not a town like Los Angeles. It is avillage, and Radha and Krishna are always takingpleasure in the nice gardens on the bank ofYamuna river — yāmuna-tīra-vana-cārī.next column !Vrindavan is the blissful transcendentalabode where there is no question of dangeror fear. Krishna comes to this planet to showus the replica of the original Vrindavan. ThatVrindavan replica is on this planet in India, about ninety miles from New Delhi. It is exactlythe same Vrindavan, but because it is inthis material world it appears that there aresometimes dangers there. So when Krishnawas present on this earth, on this planet, therewas some danger. Actually, because Krishnawas present there was no danger, but it appearedlike there was.Once, Krishna stopped the worship of Indra— the demigod in charge of watering department.Indra became very angry, and for sevendays continuously he sent torrents of rain. Atthat time Krishna took the hill known asGovardhana and immediately lifted it as if itwere an umbrella on his small finger. AlthoughKrishna was playing like an ordinary humanchild, still, when there was need, he manifestedhis godly power. That is God. When it wasneeded to protect the inhabitants ofVrindavan, he lifted a big hill, and since thenone of his names is Giri-vara-dhari, meaninghe who held up that hill. By material calculationhe was seven years old at that time.In the original Vrindavan there is no suchthing as the wrath of Indra, torrents of raincausing an inundation, or any kind of danger.!

Withtears in its eyes, it thought, “This is not an ordinaryhuman. He must be a part of Narayan.Everything he said to me is based on śāstra.” Bythe grace of Rasik, the elephant attained completeknowledge and accepted Lord Krishna asthe only truth. It fell at the feet of Rasikanandaand washed his feet with its tears. Placing a handon the head of the elephant, Rasik poured thesixteen word Hare Krishna mantra into its rightear. As soon as it received the holy name, theelephant quickly stood up and then fell prostrateat the feet of Rasikananda Prabhu. After circumambulatinghim, it again bowed down and astream of tears rolled from its eyes. Seeing thebeauty of Rasikananda, the beast was socharmed that it forgot its own self. Rasik namedhim “Sri Gopal Das”, and after receiving thisname, it fell at Rasik’s feet a hundred times. Havingseen Rasik as Narayan, Gopal Das was reluctantto leave him. Dedicating himself to thelotus feet of Rasikananda Prabhu, it was onlyafter a long time, with tears in its eyes, that itslowly left the palace to enter into the forest. After witnessing this wonderful pastime, both the Hindus and the yavanas wereamazed. They began to speak amongst themselvesas follows, “Rasik has not only tamedthe mad elephant but he has also given itinitiation.” As the news spread, millions ofpeople came to that place just to see Rasik.Ahammad Beg quickly came there and fellat the feet of Rasik. With folded hands, he said,“I was unable to appreciate your transcendentalposition and thus I ordered my men to bringyou here. I have acted out of ignorance, andnow I beg you to forgive me. You are an oceanof mercy and kindness. You are the life of theuniverse. Being enamored by your illusory energy,I did not know your glory and gave youtrouble. Please forgive me.”Hearing these humble words, Rasik told theking, “I came here to deliver you, and on theway the mad elephant came running towards! !
