The RACQInsurance Animal Nursery and Dairy Farmers MilkingBarn was a firm favourite with the crowds.> The RNA Showgrounds iconic Main Arenaunderwent a major renovation. The new state-ofthe-artoval was the result of the RNA’s co-operationwith the Leighton Contractors and BaulderstoneHornibrook Bilfinger Berger Joint Venture in theconstruction of the North South Bypass Tunnel.The stunning new arena has been designed to copewith a 100-year rainfall event in Brisbane of 120mlsper hour. Two large water tanks are located underthe surface of the oval and above the track with acombined storage capacity of 250,000 litres.> The RNA was a finalist in the 2007 QueenslandTourism Awards (Festivals and Events Category)for the 2006 EkkA.> The RNA received significant increases in competitionentries for District Exhibits and Fruit, Alpaca Fleeces,Wool and Chainsawing.> The RNA Development Scheme Strategy wasprepared this year to reflect the inclusion of the RNAShowgrounds in the State Government’s plans totransform Bowen Hills and Fortitude Valley intosignificant urban growth precincts.
