Use the ppp chap refuse command to notagree to authenticate with CHAP. Use the ppp pap refuse command to not agree toauthenticate with PAP. These commands prevent the device from authenticating with aspecific method.- Use the show ppp authentication command to display the interface’s PPPauthentication status. This command displays the following:[PAP refuse]PAP sent-username: [not] configured[CHAP refuse]CHAP hostname: For example:G350-001(super-if:FastEthernet 10/2)# show ppp authenticationPAP sent-username: configuredCHAP refuseCHAP hostname: G350- Use the keepalive command to enable keepalive or change the interval to whichkeepalive is set. When activated, keepalive performs the initial negotiation and sendshealth checks at defined intervals to the other side of the interface. If five consecutivekeepalive requests are not answered, the PPP session is terminated. To deactivatekeepalive, use the no form of the command or set the health check interval to 0.6. Type exit to return to general context. The prompt returns to:G350-001(super)#7. Test the configuration. See Verifying the WAN configuration and testing connectivity onpage 96.8. Use the copy running-config startup-config command to save the configuration. To shut down the port, and the PPPoE client (if configured), use the shutdown command in theinterface context.94 Administration of the Avaya G350 Media Gateway
