Initial WAN configurationInitial WAN configurationTo configure the Avaya G350 Media Gateway to support a WAN:1. Add one of the following WAN media modules:- Avaya MM340 E1/T1 media module- Avaya MM342 USP media moduleNote:Note:You can also use the Fast Ethernet port on the G350 chassis as the endpoint fora WAN line by configuring this interface for PPPoE. See Configuring PPPoE onpage 91.2. Connect the WAN line to the media module. For more information, see Installation andUpgrades for the Avaya G350 Media Gateway, 03-300394.3. Configure the WAN interface on the WAN media module:- For the MM340, see Configuring the Avaya MM340 E1/T1 WAN media module onpage 85.- For the MM342, see Configuring the Avaya MM342 USP WAN media module onpage 88.4. By default, a G350 WAN interface uses Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP). For instructions onchanging the default PPP parameters, see Configuring PPP on page 90.5. If you want frame relay encapsulation on the WAN, configure frame relay. See Configuringframe relay on page 95.6. Test the WAN configuration. See Verifying the WAN configuration and testingconnectivity on page 96.7. Use the copy running-config startup-config command to save the configuration.Configuring the Avaya MM340 E1/T1 WAN media moduleFor a list of G350 default settings, see E1/T1 default settings on page 88. To display the currentsettings, use the show controllers command.To configure an E1 or T1 port:1. Use the show-ds command to check if the G350 is configured for E1 or T1 operation.2.
