Initial WAN configurationInitial WAN configurationTo configure <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> <strong>G350</strong> <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Gateway</strong> to support a WAN:1. Add one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following WAN media modules:- <strong>Avaya</strong> MM340 E1/T1 media module- <strong>Avaya</strong> MM342 USP media moduleNote:Note:You can also use <strong>the</strong> Fast E<strong>the</strong>rnet port on <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> chassis as <strong>the</strong> endpoint fora WAN line by configuring this interface for PPPoE. See Configuring PPPoE onpage 91.2. Connect <strong>the</strong> WAN line to <strong>the</strong> media module. For more information, see Installation andUpgrades for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> <strong>G350</strong> <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Gateway</strong>, 03-300394.3. Configure <strong>the</strong> WAN interface on <strong>the</strong> WAN media module:- For <strong>the</strong> MM340, see Configuring <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> MM340 E1/T1 WAN media module onpage 85.- For <strong>the</strong> MM342, see Configuring <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> MM342 USP WAN media module onpage 88.4. By default, a <strong>G350</strong> WAN interface uses Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP). For instructions onchanging <strong>the</strong> default PPP parameters, see Configuring PPP on page 90.5. If you want frame relay encapsulation on <strong>the</strong> WAN, configure frame relay. See Configuringframe relay on page 95.6. Test <strong>the</strong> WAN configuration. See Verifying <strong>the</strong> WAN configuration and testingconnectivity on page 96.7. Use <strong>the</strong> copy running-config startup-config command to save <strong>the</strong> configuration.Configuring <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> MM340 E1/T1 WAN media moduleFor a list <strong>of</strong> <strong>G350</strong> default settings, see E1/T1 default settings on page 88. To display <strong>the</strong> currentsettings, use <strong>the</strong> show controllers command.To configure an E1 or T1 port:1. Use <strong>the</strong> show-ds command to check if <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> is configured for E1 or T1 operation.2. Use <strong>the</strong> ds-mode command to set <strong>the</strong> mode <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> to E1 or T1.
