Configuring Ethernet portsConfiguring switch Ethernet portsFor basic configuration of a switch Ethernet port, use the commands listed below. You can alsoconfigure the following features on a switch Ethernet port:●●●●Advanced switching features, including VLANs. For more information, see Chapter13: Configuring advanced switching.VoIP queuing. To configure VoIP queuing on a switch port, configure a VLAN for the port.Then configure VoIP queuing on the VLAN. For more information about VoIP queuing, seeConfiguring QoS parameters on page 74.Access control policy lists and QoS policy lists. To configure policy lists on a switch port,configure a VLAN for the port. Then configure policy on the VLAN. For more informationon policy lists, see Chapter 18: Configuring policy.SNMP Link Up and Link Down traps. For more information, see Configuring SNMPtraps on page 125.Switch Ethernet port commandsUse the following commands for basic configuration of switch Ethernet ports. For moreinformation about these commands, see Avaya G350 Media Gateway CLI Reference,555-245-202.●●●●●●●Use the set port auto-negotiation-flowcontrol-advertisement commandto set the flowcontrol advertisement for the specified port when performingauto-negotiation. This command is only applicable to the Gigabit Ethernet port.Use the set port disable command to disable a port or range of ports.Use the set port duplex command to configure the duplex type of an Ethernet or FastEthernet port or range of ports.You can configure Ethernet and Fast Ethernet interfaces toeither full duplex or half duplex. The duplex status of a port in auto-negotiation mode isdetermined by auto-negotiation. When auto-negotiation is enabled, an error message isgenerated if you attempt to set the transmission type of auto-negotiation Fast Ethernetports to half-duplex or full-duplex mode.Use the set port edge admin state command to set the administrative state thespecified port is assumed to be in.Use the set port enable command to enable a port or a range of ports.Use the set port level command to determine the default packet priority level foruntagged packets. Packets traveling through a port set at normal priority should be servedonly after packets traveling through a port set at high priority are served.Use the set port name command to configure a name for a port.62 Administration of the Avaya G350 Media Gateway

Configuring the WAN Ethernet port●●●Use the set port negotiation command to enable or disable the link negotiationprotocol on the specified port. This command applies to Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernetports. When negotiation is enabled, the speed and duplex of the Fast Ethernet ports aredetermined by auto-negotiation. If negotiation is disabled, the user can set the speed andduplex of the Fast Ethernet ports.Use the set port point-to-point admin status command, followed by themodule and port number of the port, to manage the connection type of the port. Use one ofthe following arguments with this command:- force-true — the port is treated as if it were connected point-to-point- force-false — the port is treated as if it were connected to shared media- auto — the G350 tries to automatically detect the connection type of the portUse the set port speed command to configure the speed of a port or range of ports. Inauto-negotiation mode, the port’s speed is determined by auto-negotiation. An errormessage is generated if you attempt to set the speed when auto-negotiation is enabledConfiguring the WAN Ethernet portFor basic configuration of the WAN Ethernet port:1. Use the interface FastEthernet 10/2 command to enter the context of the portinterface.2. Perform basic configuration of the interface. For more information, see Configuringinterfaces on page 160.3.
