Basic device configurationEach firmware bank contains a version <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> firmware. These may be different versions. The purpose <strong>of</strong> this feature is to provide s<strong>of</strong>tware redundancy. If one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> versions becomescorrupted, you can reset <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> using <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r version. This is particularly important whenuploading new versions.By default, when you turn on or reset <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> loads firmware from Bank B. Tochange <strong>the</strong> default bank from which firmware is loaded during startup, type <strong>the</strong> set bootbank command. For example, to configure <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> to load firmware from Bank A on startup, type set boot bank bank-A. After typing <strong>the</strong> set boot bank command, you must type<strong>the</strong> copy running-config startup-config command to save <strong>the</strong> change. Now, whenyou reset <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong>, it will load firmware from Bank A.You can use <strong>the</strong> ASB button on <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> front panel to load firmware from <strong>the</strong> bank o<strong>the</strong>r than<strong>the</strong> default bank during startup:1. Press and hold <strong>the</strong> reset button.2. Press and hold <strong>the</strong> ASB button.3. Release <strong>the</strong> reset button.4. Release <strong>the</strong> ASB button. For example, if <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> is configured to load firmware from Bank B, use <strong>the</strong> steps listed aboveto reset <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> to load <strong>the</strong> firmware from Bank A instead. To display <strong>the</strong> bank from which <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> is currently set to load its firmware upon startup orreset, type <strong>the</strong> show boot bank command.Upgrading s<strong>of</strong>tware and firmwareTo upgrade s<strong>of</strong>tware or firmware, you must obtain an upgrade file from <strong>Avaya</strong>. Place <strong>the</strong> file onyour FTP or TFTP server. Then, use one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following commands to upload <strong>the</strong> file to <strong>the</strong><strong>G350</strong>. For each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se commands, include <strong>the</strong> full path <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> file and <strong>the</strong> IP address <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>FTP or TFTP host as parameters. When you enter <strong>the</strong> command, <strong>the</strong> CLI prompts you for ausername and password.Note:●●●●Note:In addition to using <strong>the</strong> CLI to upgrade s<strong>of</strong>tware and firmware, you can use <strong>the</strong><strong>Avaya</strong> IW and <strong>the</strong> GIW. See Configuring <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> using <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> IW onpage 389 and Configuring <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> using <strong>the</strong> GIW on page 427.Use <strong>the</strong> copy ftp EW_archive command to upgrade <strong>the</strong> Java applet for <strong>Avaya</strong> <strong>G350</strong>Manager s<strong>of</strong>tware from an FTP server.Use <strong>the</strong> copy ftp module command, followed by <strong>the</strong> module number <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> module youwant to upgrade, to upgrade <strong>the</strong> firmware on a media module from an FTP server.Use <strong>the</strong> copy ftp SW_imageA command to upgrade <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> firmware into Bank Afrom an FTP server.Use <strong>the</strong> copy ftp SW_imageB command to upgrade <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> firmware into Bank Bfrom an FTP server.58 <strong>Administration</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> <strong>G350</strong> <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Gateway</strong>
