Configuring <strong>the</strong> <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Gateway</strong> Controller (MGC)The following is an example <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> set mgc list command:<strong>G350</strong>-001> set mgc list 132.236.73.2, 132.236.73.3, 132.236,73.4,132.236.73.5If <strong>the</strong> media server with <strong>the</strong> IP address 132.236.73.2 is available, that media server becomes<strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong>’s MGC. If that server is not available, <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> searches for <strong>the</strong> next media server on<strong>the</strong> list, and so on.To determine <strong>the</strong> result <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> set mgc list command, use <strong>the</strong> show mgc command. Thiscommand has <strong>the</strong> following output:●●●Registered — indicates whe<strong>the</strong>r or not <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> is registered with an MGC (YES or NO).Active Controller — displays <strong>the</strong> IP address <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> active MGC. If <strong>the</strong>re is no active MGC(i.e., if <strong>the</strong> set mgc list command failed to configure an MGC), this field displays255.255.255.255.H248 Link Status — indicates whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> communication link between <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> and <strong>the</strong>MGC is up or down.● H248 Link Error Code — if <strong>the</strong>re is a communication failure between <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> and <strong>the</strong>MGC, this field displays <strong>the</strong> error code.To show <strong>the</strong> current MGC list, use <strong>the</strong> show mgc list command. This command shows <strong>the</strong>IP addresses <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> MGCs on <strong>the</strong> MGC list.To remove one or more MGCs from <strong>the</strong> MGC list, use <strong>the</strong> clear mgc list command. Type<strong>the</strong> IP address <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> MGC you want to remove as an argument to remove that MGC. You canremove more than one MGC with one command by typing <strong>the</strong> IP addresses <strong>of</strong> all <strong>the</strong> MGCs youwant to remove, separated by commas. To remove all <strong>the</strong> MGCs on <strong>the</strong> list, use <strong>the</strong> clearmgc list command with no arguments.To change <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong>’s MGC list:1. Use <strong>the</strong> clear mgc list command with no arguments to clear <strong>the</strong> MGC list.2. Use <strong>the</strong> set mgc list command with a different set <strong>of</strong> IP addresses.Note:Note:If you use <strong>the</strong> set mgc list command without first clearing <strong>the</strong> MGC list, <strong>the</strong><strong>G350</strong> simply adds <strong>the</strong> new MGCs to <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> MGC list.Issue 3 January 2005 53
