Accessing <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> <strong>G350</strong> <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Gateway</strong>Special security featuresThis section describes <strong>the</strong> following special security features:●●Enabling and disabling recovery password — instructions on how to enable and disable<strong>the</strong> recovery password, which provides emergency access to <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> via a directconnection to <strong>the</strong> console portEnabling and disabling telnet access — instructions on how to enable and disable telnetaccess to and from <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong>Enabling and disabling recovery passwordThe <strong>G350</strong> includes a special recovery password. The purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> recovery password is toenable <strong>the</strong> system administrator to access <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> in <strong>the</strong> event that <strong>the</strong> regular password isforgotten. You can only use <strong>the</strong> recovery password when accessing <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> via a directconnection to <strong>the</strong> console port. See Accessing CLI with a console device on page 29.You can use <strong>the</strong> set terminal recovery password command to enable or disable <strong>the</strong>recovery password. You can only use this command when accessing <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> via a directconnection to <strong>the</strong> console port.Enabling and disabling telnet accessYou can enable and disable <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong>’s ability to establish incoming and outgoing telnetconnections, using <strong>the</strong> following commands. You can only use <strong>the</strong>se commands whenaccessing <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> via a direct connection to <strong>the</strong> console port. See Accessing CLI with aconsole device on page 29.●●Use <strong>the</strong> ip telnet command to enable <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> to establish an incoming telnetconnection. Use <strong>the</strong> no form <strong>of</strong> this command to disable <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong>’s ability to establish anincoming telnet connection.Use <strong>the</strong> ip telnet client command to enable <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong> to establish an outgoingtelnet connection.
