Accessing the Avaya G350 Media GatewayAccessing GIWThe Gateway Installation Wizard (GIW) is an automated tool that allows you to perform astreamlined installation and configuration of a G350 controlled by an internal S8300. You canuse the GIW to perform initial configuration of the G350 and to upgrade software and firmware.Specifically, you can perform the following tasks with the GIW:●Configure PMI information — see Configuring the Primary Management Interface (PMI) onpage 50● Configure SNMP information — see Configuring SNMP on page 119●●●Configure primary and secondary Media Gateway Controllers — see The Media GatewayController (MGC) on page 52Check connectivity between the G350 and its Media Gateway ControllerDisplay information on the G350 and media modules installed on the G350● Enable the G350 for modem use — see Configuring the G350 for modem use on page 77● Install software and firmware upgrades — see Software and firmware upgrades onpage 57To access the GIW:1. Install GIW on a laptop computer from the CD provided by Avaya. The laptop should berunning Windows 2000 or Windows XP.2. Plug one end of an RJ-45 to RJ-45 cable into a DB-9 adapter.3. Plug the RJ-45 connector at the other end of the cable into the console port (CONSOLE) ofthe G350.4.
