Accessing <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> <strong>G350</strong> <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Gateway</strong>Accessing CLI via modemYou can access <strong>the</strong> CLI from a remote location using any standard telnet program. Use a dialupPPP network connection from a modem at <strong>the</strong> remote location to ei<strong>the</strong>r a USB or a serialmodem connected to <strong>the</strong> console port on <strong>the</strong> front panel <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong>. Use only an approved<strong>Avaya</strong> serial cable. For more information about approved <strong>Avaya</strong> serial cables, see Overview <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> <strong>G350</strong> <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Gateway</strong>, 555-245-201.Note:Note:You can disconnect a telnet session by typing +]. This is particularly usefulif <strong>the</strong> normal telnet logout does not work.Accessing CLI via a USB modemTo access <strong>the</strong> CLI with telnet through dialup from a remote location using a USB modem:1. Connect a modem to <strong>the</strong> USB port on <strong>the</strong> front panel <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> <strong>G350</strong> <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Gateway</strong>.Use a USB cable to connect <strong>the</strong> modem. It is recommended to use a Multitech MultiModemUSB, MT5634ZBA-USB-V92.2. Make sure <strong>the</strong> USB port is properly configured for modem use. For details, see Configuring<strong>the</strong> USB port for modem use on page 77.3. From <strong>the</strong> remote computer, create a dialup network connection to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> <strong>G350</strong> <strong>Media</strong><strong>Gateway</strong>. Use <strong>the</strong> TCP/IP and PPP protocols to create <strong>the</strong> connection. Configure <strong>the</strong>connection according to <strong>the</strong> configuration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> COM port <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> remote computer. Bydefault, The <strong>G350</strong> uses PAP au<strong>the</strong>ntication. If your network has a RADIUS server, you canuse RADIUS au<strong>the</strong>ntication for <strong>the</strong> PPP connection. For more information, see Managinglogin permissions on page 36.4. Open any standard telnet program on <strong>the</strong> remote computer.5. Open a telnet session to <strong>the</strong> IP address <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> USB port on <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong>. The default IPaddress <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> USB port is 10.3.0.3 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0. For instructions onhow to change <strong>the</strong> IP address <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> USB port (i.e., <strong>the</strong> USB interface), see Configuring <strong>the</strong>USB port for modem use on page 77.6. Configure <strong>the</strong> serial connection on <strong>the</strong> remote computer to match <strong>the</strong> configuration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>USB port on <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong>.
