There are certainitems that you must configure, according to your system specifications, before using <strong>the</strong> <strong>G350</strong>.Configuration <strong>of</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r items depends on <strong>the</strong> specifications <strong>of</strong> your network.A new <strong>G350</strong> has two IP interfaces for management (SNMP, telnet). These are <strong>the</strong> consoleinterface and <strong>the</strong> USB interface. By default, <strong>the</strong> IP address <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> console interface is 10.3.0.1with a subnet mask <strong>of</strong> 255.255.255.0. The first thing you should do when configuring a new<strong>G350</strong> is to assign a new IP address to <strong>the</strong> console interface. To do this:1. Use <strong>the</strong> interface console command to enter <strong>the</strong> console context.2. Use <strong>the</strong> ip address command to define a new IP address for <strong>the</strong> console interface.Note:Note: For more detailed installation instructions, including information on obtaining IPaddresses, refer to Installation and Upgrades for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Avaya</strong> <strong>G350</strong> <strong>Media</strong><strong>Gateway</strong>, 03-300394.The following example assigns to <strong>the</strong> console interface an IP address <strong>of</strong> 10.3.3.1 with a subnetmask <strong>of</strong> 255.255.255.0:<strong>G350</strong>-001(super)# interface console<strong>G350</strong>-001(super-if:Console)# ip address 10.3.3.1 255.255.255.0Done!Issue 3 January 2005 23
