Configuring RIPRIP limitationsConfiguration of RIPv1 and RIPv2 is per IP interface. Configuration must be homogeneous onall routers on each subnetwork. That is, RIPv1 and RIPv2 routers should not be configured onthe same subnetwork. However, you can configure different IP interfaces of the G350 withdifferent RIP versions. This configuration is valid as long as all routers on the subnet areconfigured with the same version.RIPv2 and RIPv1 are considered the same protocol with regard to redistribution to and fromOSPF and static route preferences.RIP commandsUse the following commands to configure RIP. For more information about these commands,see Avaya G350 Media Gateway CLI Reference, 555-245-202.●●●●●●●●●Use the default-metric command to set the interface RIP route metric value. Use theno form of this command to restore the default value.Use the distribution-list command to apply a distribution policy rule for incoming oroutgoing routing information in route updates. Use the no form of this command todeactivate the rule.Use the ip rip authentication key command to set the authentication string usedon the interface. Use the no form of this command to clear the password.Use the ip rip authentication mode command to specify the type of authenticationused in RIP Version 2 packets. Use the no form of this command to restore the defaultvalue, none.Use the ip rip default-route-mode command to enable learning of the defaultroute received by the RIP protocol. The default state is talk-listen. Use the no form of thiscommand to disable listening to default routes.Use the ip rip poison-reverse command to enable split-horizon with poison-reverseon an interface. Use the no form of this command to disable the poison-reversemechanism.Use the ip rip rip-version command to specify the RIP version running on theinterface.Use the ip rip send-receive-mode command to set the RIP send and receivemodes on an interface. Use the no form of this command to set the RIP to talk, that is, tosend reports.Use the ip rip split-horizon command to enable the split-horizon mechanism.
