Enabling proxy ARPARP table commandsUse the following commands to configure the ARP table. For more information about thesecommands, see Avaya G350 Media Gateway CLI Reference, 555-245-202.●●●●●●Use the arp command to add a permanent entry to the Address Resolution Protocol(ARP) table. Use the no form of this command to remove either a static entry or adynamically learned entry from the ARP table.Use the arp timeout command to configure the amount of time, in seconds, that anentry remains in the ARP table. Entering the arp timeout command without a timeparameter will display the current timeout value. Use the no form of this command torestore the default value (four hours).Use the clear arp-cache command to delete all dynamic entries from the ARP tableand the IP route cache.Use the ip max-arp-entries command to specify the maximum number of ARP tableentries allowed in the ARP table. Use the no form of this command to restore the defaultvalue.Use the show ip arp command to display a list of the ARP resolved MAC to IPaddresses in the ARP table.Use the show ip reverse-arp command to display the IP address of a host, based ona known MAC address.Enabling proxy ARPThe G350 supports proxy ARP. Proxy ARP is a technique by which a router provides a falseidentity when answering ARP requests intended for another device. By falsifying its identify, therouter accepts responsibility for routing packets to their true destination.Proxy ARP can help devices on a subnet to reach remote subnets without the need to configurerouting or a default gateway.To enable proxy ARP on a G350 interface, use the ip proxy-arp command.
