Configuring <strong>the</strong> routerLayer 2 logical interfaces●●VLAN (on <strong>the</strong> Switching Interface) — The <strong>G350</strong> switch can have multiple VLANsdefined within its switching fabric. The <strong>G350</strong> router supports up to eight VLANs that can beconfigured over its internal switching interface connection.Serial Interface — A serial interface is a virtual interface that is created over a portion <strong>of</strong>an E1/T1 or USP port. Serial interfaces support PPP and frame relay encapsulationprotocols. For more information about configuring serial interfaces for a WAN, see InitialWAN configuration on page 85.Note:Note:One or more IP interfaces can be defined over each serial, Fast E<strong>the</strong>rnet,switching, and Loopback interface.IP Interface configuration commandsTo configure an interface:1. To create an interface, type <strong>the</strong> interface command, followed by <strong>the</strong> type <strong>of</strong> interface youwant to create. Some types <strong>of</strong> interfaces require an identifier as a parameter. O<strong>the</strong>r types <strong>of</strong>interfaces require <strong>the</strong> interface’s module and port number as a parameter. For example:interface vlan 1interface serial 2/12. Use <strong>the</strong> ip address command, followed by an IP address and subnet mask, to assign anIP address to <strong>the</strong> interface. Use <strong>the</strong> no form <strong>of</strong> this command to delete <strong>the</strong> IP interface.Use <strong>the</strong> following commands to configure <strong>the</strong> interface parameters.
