Configuring advanced switching●Point-to-point Link ports — This port type applies only to ports interconnecting RSTPcompliant switches and is used to define whether the devices are interconnected usingshared Ethernet segment or point-to-point Ethernet link. RSTP convergence may be fasterwhen switches are connected using point-to-point links. The default setting for all ports –automatic detection of point-to-point link – is sufficient for most networks.Use the set port point-to-point admin status command, followed by themodule and port number or a range of port numbers, and an admin status parameter, tospecify the port’s connection type. Admin status parameters are:- force-true — treats the port as if it is connected point-to-point- force-false — treats the port as if it is connected to shared media- auto — tries to automatically detect the port’s connection typeFor example, the following command specifies that ports 3 to 5 on module 5 are treated is ifthey were connected point-to-point:G350-001(super)# set port point-to-point admin status 5/3-5force-trueUse the show port point-to-point status command, followed by the module andport number, to display the point-to-point status of the specified point-to-point status of allports.Spanning tree CLI commandsUse the following commands to configure spanning tree. For more information about thesecommands, see Avaya G350 Media Gateway CLI Reference, 555-245-202.●●●●●●●Use the set port spantree command to enable or disable the spanning tree mode forspecific switch ports.Use the set spantree default-path-cost command to set the version of thespanning tree default path cost used by this bridge.Use the set spantree enable/disable command to enable or disable the spanningtree algorithm.Use the set spantree forward-delay command to specify the time used whentransferring the state of a port to the forwarding state.Use the set spantree hello-time command to specify the time interval between thegeneration of configuration BPDUs by the root.Use the set spantree max-age command to specify the time to keep an informationmessage before it is discarded.Use the set spantree priority command to set the bridge priority for STP.146 Administration of the Avaya G350 Media Gateway
