Welcome to <strong>Stagecoach</strong><strong>in</strong> Chester and WirralFollow<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> purchase of <strong>the</strong> Chester and Wirral basedoperations from First, <strong>Stagecoach</strong> has now formally takenresponsibility of <strong>the</strong> services, buses, employees and premises.<strong>Stagecoach</strong> would like to take this opportunity to welcomeour new customers <strong>in</strong> Chester, Ellesmere Port, Birkenheadand surround<strong>in</strong>g areas.You will soon see changes to <strong>the</strong> buses, passenger<strong>in</strong>formation and ticket range. Some of this will be a gradualtransition as we work beh<strong>in</strong>d <strong>the</strong> scenes to transfer systemsfrom First to <strong>Stagecoach</strong>.What does this mean?Buses – We will add <strong>Stagecoach</strong> logos to <strong>the</strong>fleet and a repa<strong>in</strong>t programme will beg<strong>in</strong>.We will also be <strong>in</strong>troduc<strong>in</strong>g some brandnew buses and <strong>Stagecoach</strong> branded busestransferred <strong>in</strong> from o<strong>the</strong>r locations, as westart to modernise <strong>the</strong> fleet. We will provideregular communication to customers throughour ‘<strong>Keep<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>you</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Loop</strong>’ updates andour dedicated website page.Fares and tickets – There are quite a fewdifferences between First and <strong>Stagecoach</strong>ticket mach<strong>in</strong>es and systems. <strong>Stagecoach</strong> willbe <strong>in</strong>troduc<strong>in</strong>g new tickets mach<strong>in</strong>es <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>next few months, but <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> meantime wewill be us<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> First mach<strong>in</strong>es. Initially, <strong>you</strong>will not notice any immediate changes, o<strong>the</strong>rthan <strong>the</strong> First logos on <strong>the</strong> tickets chang<strong>in</strong>gto <strong>Stagecoach</strong> logos. O<strong>the</strong>rwise, ticketavailability is as follows:• Tickets currently available on <strong>the</strong> First buseswill cont<strong>in</strong>ue to be issued and accepted asbefore. This <strong>in</strong>cludes s<strong>in</strong>gle, return, First Dayand First Week tickets. First Month ticketswill no longer be issued.• Unfortunately, we will not be able to sell<strong>the</strong> <strong>Stagecoach</strong> range of tickets <strong>in</strong>itially.We are work<strong>in</strong>g on plans to <strong>in</strong>troduce a fullrange of excellent value <strong>Stagecoach</strong> ticketproducts and will publicise this <strong>in</strong>formationover <strong>the</strong> com<strong>in</strong>g weeks.• First Month / Annual tickets will be validon <strong>the</strong> ex First / <strong>Stagecoach</strong> Chester andWirral buses until expiry, but no newtickets will be issued.• Liverpool city centre – some ex Firstservices (1, 2, 471, 472) enter Liverpoolcity centre, which is an area already servedby <strong>Stagecoach</strong> buses. Initially, <strong>the</strong> ex Firstticket range will not be <strong>in</strong>ter-available with<strong>Stagecoach</strong> Merseyside buses, but as wementioned earlier, we are work<strong>in</strong>g on ournew ticket products and will announcefur<strong>the</strong>r news <strong>in</strong> due course.• Paypo<strong>in</strong>t – tickets sales from Paypo<strong>in</strong>toutlets will cease.• Some services are part of <strong>the</strong> Merseytravel‘Quality Bus’ partnership corridors, withjo<strong>in</strong>t-availability of certa<strong>in</strong> ticket<strong>in</strong>g withArriva. The <strong>in</strong>ter-availability of <strong>the</strong> daily andweekly tickets will rema<strong>in</strong> unchanged.We have <strong>in</strong>formed Merseytravel that wewill no longer be able to accept <strong>the</strong><strong>in</strong>ter-availability of tickets beyond oneweek’s duration and will provide fur<strong>the</strong>rcustomer <strong>in</strong>formation on this.Routes and timetables – There will be nochange <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> immediate future to <strong>the</strong> routesor timetables operated. New timetable leafletswill be issued for most services, but <strong>the</strong>se aresimply to reflect <strong>the</strong> new operator name.Additional <strong>in</strong>formationWe recognise that <strong>the</strong> change <strong>in</strong> ownershipmay cause some uncerta<strong>in</strong>ty and we arelook<strong>in</strong>g to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> communication with ourcustomers over this transitional period.To keep up to date with any proposed changesto <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>formation listed <strong>in</strong> this leaflet please:• Keep an eye out for ‘<strong>Keep<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>you</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>loop’ material on <strong>the</strong> buses.• Visit our dedicated website page atwww.stagecoachbus.com andchoos<strong>in</strong>g <strong>you</strong>r local town <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> dropdown list of places.
