(Continued from page 2)Conservation Loan ProgramThe Conservation Loan (CL) Program provides farmerswith the funding necessary to implement NRCS approvedconservation measures on their land. The availablelimit for a direct CL is $300,000, and the limit for aguaranteed CL is $1,119,000.The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)will work with applicants to develop a conservation plancontaining approved conservation practices. Examples ofsome conservation practices are: water conservationstructures, forest cover, permanent pastures, manure digestersand other installations.For more information on a potential ConservationLoan, call the local FSA office and make an appointmentwith your farm loan officer.Farming Operation ChangesIf you have bought or sold land, or if you have addedor dropped rented land from your operation, make sureyou report the changes to the office as soon as possible.You need to provide a copy of your deed or recorded landcontract for purchased property. Failure to maintain accuraterecords with FSA on all land you have an interestin can lead to possible program ineligibility and penalties.Making the record changes now will save you time in thespring. Update signature authorization when changes inthe operation occur. Producers are reminded to contactthe office of a change in operations on a farm so that recordscan be kept current and accurate.FSA Power of Attorneyexchange for compensation other than cash, such ascontrolling weeds or barter arrangements.To qualify as a cash-rent tenant, producers mustmake either of the following contributions to theirfarming operation: * a significant contribution of activepersonal labor (personally providing physical activitiessuch as irrigation, harvesting, planting, etc) * a significantcontribution of both active personal management(personally providing general supervision, direction ofactivities, decision making, etc.) and owned equipment.Producers who do not meet this provision will notbe able to receive benefits on cash-rented land.
