18 December 2009MITIE Group PLCMITIE secures contract with Plymouth Community HomesMITIE has been awarded an £16.5 million contract to carry out major improvement works to over14,000 homes in Plymouth.Plymouth Community Homes selected MITE as one of four suppliers to deliver kitchen andbathroom refurbishments as part of a five-year framework agreement.MITIE, along with the other chosen suppliers are using a single local supply chain to secure thebest economies of scale and value for money, and are equally committed to using local labour.It is envisaged that this could mean up to 120 jobs and 12 apprenticeships in the city. MITIE is verykeen to get involved in community projects too, demonstrating their commitment to puttingsomething back into the communities they work in.Clive Turner, Chief Executive of Plymouth Community Homes, said: “The successful contractorsdemonstrated excellent value for money together with a commitment to boost job numbers andapprenticeships in the city, which can only be welcomed in the current economic climate.”Adrian Dawson, Director for MITIE’s Property Management team said, “We are delighted to havebeen awarded this contract and look forward to working with Plymouth Community Homes andtheir residents.
