Government andCommunity RelationsFaculty and Educational ExcellenceThe Division of Government and Community Relationscontinued to help contribute to educational excellenceby advocating on behalf of federal and state research andfinancial aid funds. The division’s work on behalf of thenew <strong>Cornell</strong> NYC Tech campus also will help promoteeducational excellence.The division annually brings governmental figuresto campus for lectures and other events. Recent visitorsincluded presidential candidate Ron Paul, New York StateSenator Kirsten Gillibrand, New York City Mayor MichaelNancy Pelosi.Public EngagementGovernment and Community Relations staff workedwith the public and representative government officials andagencies on issues such as Lake Source Cooling in CayugaLake, the ongoing health of the lake, bridge safety, studentbehavior in neighborhoods surrounding campus, hydraulicfracturing, local and statewide economic development,sustainability, buildings and construction sites, campusparking and traffic, wastewater, and more.Staff ExcellenceCommunity Relations produces a weekly show—All Things Equal—now in its fourth year, which hasbeen honored by SUNYCUAD for Best in Category onElectronic Communications and Interactive Media andwas nominated for a national award. The center expanded its internal training effortson topics like social media and diversity recruitment withthe goal of moving from traditionally passive searches tomore active searches that will help expand talent pools andprovide access to a wider range of candidates.The <strong>Cornell</strong> Dual Career Program served 107candidates, primarily partners of faculty (83 new and 2420<strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2011</strong>–<strong>2012</strong>
