What is an EmployeeAssistance Program?An EAP is a benefit to help school employees and theirfamilies cope with the stresses of life and work-includingpersonal and family issues, drug or alcohol problems,and job-related tensions.The EAP helps employees by offering both treatment andprevention services. It provides confidential counseling,consultation, and education.The Human Relations ServiceThe School Department has contracted with The HumanRelations Service (HRS), to provide our Employee AssistanceProgram. A Private, non-profit agency in WellesleyHills, HRS has served nearby towns and worked closelywith public schools since 1948.EAPEAPEAPConfidential CounselingEach Employee is entitled to up to five free, confidentialvisits for counseling, diagnosis, and referral. Family membersmay also be seen within the five visits. Employeesmay use their own resources and health insurance forfurther counseling.*“Confidential” meansfully private.Names of thoseusing the EAPare not reportedto anyone. EAPcounseling playsno role inpersonnel decisions.Consultation & EducationThe EAP offers training and consultation to supervisorson management, leadership, and personnelissues. It also offers programs on topic in personnelhealth, family living, and work. These are presentedon-site and are open to all employees.*
