It gives you details aboutthe team and how they can help you.About the <strong>Mental</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Liaison</strong> <strong>Team</strong>We are a team of experienced mental health professionalswho provide assessment, advice and information to peoplewith mental health problems, receiving medical treatment viaA&E or other wards at the Princess Royal UniversityHospital. You will generally only meet with us onone occasion. We will carry out a thorough assessment ofyour mental health needs. We may want to speak to yourrelative or carer but will ask your permission before doingso.


This will include asking you about:your current thoughts and feelingsrisks to yourself or otherscurrent social circumstanceshow you are managing day to day lifeany history of mental health problems.We may also ask you about your childhood and anytraumatic experiences you may have had. With yourconsent, we may ask you to complete some questionnairesor basic tests of different thinking skills.Following the assessment we will inform you about anytreatment we are referring you for and provide advice andinformation (if relevant) about your mental health.Information will be recorded on our electronic recordssystem. This system is completely confidential and no onewill access this unless they are involved in your mentalhealth treatment.We are not able to offer routine mental healthappointments in A&E, help you obtain housing or providesupport for benefits reviews. We do not offer follow upappointments.How to contact usYou can contact the <strong>Mental</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Liaison</strong> <strong>Team</strong> by callingour administration staff on 01689 880000 from 9am to5pm Monday to Friday. If you need immediate help due tomental health or medical problems then please considerusing your GP or if you currently use mental healthservices, your care coordinator. If it is a medicalemergency and out of normal working hours then pleasecontact EmDoc (emergency doctor) via your GP’s phonenumber who will advise further.ConfidentialityAll staff are required to abide by a strict code of conducton confidentiality. We may share some information withother staff who do not work for <strong>Oxleas</strong> <strong>NHS</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong><strong>Trust</strong>. An example of this may include GPs and socialservices employees. If you are from outside the LondonBorough of <strong>Bromley</strong> we may need to contact services inyour own borough to gain further information. Whenconsidering who may see information about you, our staffuse the following principles.Seek consent from you to share informationOnly share information with those who need to know inorder to provide good quality careShare the minimum information necessary to ensuregood quality care and your safety.
