Introduction and Equipment OverviewInitializing the Flexible Gas Analyzer UnitManual OverviewBefore beginning to use the Flexible Gas Analyzer for the first time, it is essentialto plug it in and fully charge the battery.✓ Overnight (8 hours) is recommended.✓ The FGA analyzer does not have an On/Off switch. The analyzer isactivated by communication from the software. If you want the analyzer toperform an action, select the action from the pocket PC or PC software.The pocket PC also uses a rechargeable battery. The pocket PC should beplugged into its charger for recharging when not in use. If the pocket PC loses itscharge, the FGA software will have to be reinstalled. If FGA is not present on theStart menu of the pocket PC, reinstall the software. See Installing FGA,page 2B-2.This manual discusses the FGA and how to use it with both the pocket PC anddesktop PC software.Chapters 2A–2H describe pocket PC operationandChapters 3A–3H describe PC operation .Additional chapters pertain to the FGA in general, including overview,maintenance, interpretation, and OBD II.✓ The analyzer software leads the operator step-by-step through testfunctions. All analyzer functions display on the screen and are controlledby the keyboard or stylus. The software operates in a Windowsenvironment and the basic operation of the analyzer is menu, commandand button driven.✓ Software for the pocket PC and PC is similar but not identical.✓ Software updates and performance enhancements are producedperiodically. Contact your sales representative or EquiServ yearly andask if new software is available to purchase for your analyzer.1-6
