<strong>Preps</strong> 5.3.1 InstallationThis release of the <strong>Kodak</strong>® <strong>Preps</strong>® digital imposition software is available as anupdater or full installer:• Use the updater to upgrade an existing installation of <strong>Preps</strong> 5.3.0. If you laterwant to uninstall only the upgraded portions of the software, you can use thisdocument’s procedure for uninstalling an update.• Use the full installer to install the complete updated software into a new folder.Licensing<strong>Preps</strong> 5.3.1 is a free upgrade for existing, licensed <strong>Preps</strong> 5.3.0 installations. If you donot have a <strong>Preps</strong> 5.x license, you must purchase a new license key (also calledpassword), which must be validated either by a supported <strong>Preps</strong> dongle that isinstalled on the same computer or by a floating license that is issued by a <strong>Kodak</strong>Prinergy® or <strong>Kodak</strong> Prinergy Evo server.Preparing to install <strong>Preps</strong>Before you can install this software, you must be logged onto your computer at theAdministrator level.If you use integrated<strong>Preps</strong> with Prinergy:If a previous release isalready installed:Obtain and expand thecorrect installer:Important: To prevent serious problems, never update or install <strong>Preps</strong> software onthe Araxi<strong>Preps</strong> volume of your Prinergy server. Instead, wait until an update ofPrinergy installs the most current compatible <strong>Preps</strong> update. If necessary, you canupdate <strong>Preps</strong> at the workstations—never at the server.If you are installing onto a computer with a previous <strong>Preps</strong> installation, take thefollowing steps to prevent the loss of existing configuration data:1. Store a backup copy of the older <strong>Preps</strong> folder in another location.2. Ensure that the existing <strong>Preps</strong> software is not running when you start to install.3.
