Sponsored by:Sackville and BarringtonFrancois Gaudet & Robert FinleyTramway Building, corner of Sackville and Barrington Streets, HalifaxA product of a long-term collaborative relationship, this projection pieceis based on a single photo taken by Robert’s father on the same corner, that of Sackville and Barrington, on which the video will be projected andon the same day, October 18th, in 1949. The video is constrained withinthe confines of the original photograph and will be accompanied by arecorded reading of a text written by Robert and in direct response to thephotograph. Stemming from the artists’ shared interest in the relationbetween stillness and movement – still photographs and moving pictures– and between lyric and narrative, Sackville and Barrington also engagesmemory, the archive and questions around what the artists term“postmemory,” or constructed memory.Performance at 9:00 pmPhoto: R.A.
