MethodologyA two-stage 30 by 30 cluster survey methodology was applied. This sample size was taken to provide theestimates of the prevalence of malnutrition with a 95 % confidence interval. This sampling frame covered allvillages falling within Baidit and Jalle II payams. In each cluster, households were randomly selected andsurveyed. All the children 6 to 59 months of age belonging to the same family, defined as a woman and herchildren, were included in the survey.Data collected during the survey included the following variables:- For the children: age, sex, height, weight, oedema, MUAC, measles vaccination.- Qualitative information to capture food security situation, child care practices, nutrition, and health andsanitation situation were collected through focus group discussions, individual interviews andobservation method.
