A Letter from Jessica
Dear Friends,
It is with great pleasure that I present to you the most exciting new
addition to the JESSICA family of products in twenty years. Times
have changed and the lives of women today are busier than ever.
To answer that demand I decided to tap into some of the breakthrough
technology available in our industry and develop a service
and product line that caters to today’s active women. Using my
expertise in natural nail care we were able to develop a product that
is quick, easy and long lasting that protects the natural nail while
providing a beautiful, lustrous manicure
I am proud to introduce, GELeration , the most
sophisticated soak-off manicure and pedicure service
available today. With patent-pending technology, this gel in a
bottle is applied like polish with durable strength.
GELeration soak-off polish lasts for more than three weeks without
chipping, peeling or fading and is easily applied and removed in minutes.
The beauty of the range is that if you know how to perform a manicure, you can easily follow the simple application
and removal process. Many of you are JESSICA trained professionals so the application will be even easier.
The polishing techniques you have learned with the JESSICA System help create a beautiful gel application.
It also allows for an easy transition between gel and natural manicures enabling your client to grow her own
healthy, natural nails.
We are confident that we have put together a comprehensive program and marketing support that will help you
successfully introduce GELeration in your spa or salon This is truly a unique product that provides exciting growth
opportunities.
Thank you and welcome to The Next GELeration!
Kind regards,
JESSICA
Welcome to GELeration - JESSICA’s
innovative new soft gel technology.
The purpose of this training course is for you to gain knowledge and understanding in JESSICA’s
new GELeration Soak-Off Gel Polish system. In addition to the range of JESSICA polishes already
available, you will now have an opportunity to offer an even longer lasting manicure and pedicure
(3-4 weeks). Clients can choose from the same JESSICA colours they know and love, and will experience
the same care and attention they have come to expect from a JESSICA treatment.
Gels have been active in our industry now for decades. JESSICA’s new soft gel system is easy to
soak off and will preserve the natural nail underneath. Many hard gels have to be buffed off, which
means excessive stress on the natural nail. With this new system you can use your already excellent
manicure techniques and add a new skill that your clients will love.
The ultimate goal in this training session is to be comfortable with the new gels and how to apply
them. You will learn how to sculpt a broken nail, extend a nail and overlay a nail all while “preserving
the natural nail”! This techinique is what sets a JESSICA manicure apart from the competition.
It is crucial that you ensure that the client understands this is much less damaging than a hard gel or
an acrylic nail as there is minimal filing involved!
Feel free to ask as many questions as you need. And remember relax and have fun……good luck!!!

WHAT IS A CHEMICAL?
Everything you can see or touch except light and electricity.
The word ‘CHEMICAL’ is one of the most feared and misunderstood words in the English language.
A perfect example of a chemical is H2O (water). All chemicals have safe and unsafe levels of use. The
only time a chemical will become dangerous is when you over expose yourself to it.
Know the difference between: Irritations and Allergic Reactions.
IRRITATION
A skin irritation is like a warning sign: take this seriously!
It is usually momentary itchiness and skin can appear red in places where exposure has been. If you
stop exposing the skin the irritation will disappear.
ALLERGIC REACTION
Continued exposure of a product on your soft tissue will eventually give you a permanent allergy.
An example would be touching the gel and then not washing your hands, or touching a client’s cuticle
area with the gel. It is not a polish! BEWARE you may give them an allergic reaction.
To avoid allergies:
• Change towels regularly
• Never touch soft tissue with your Gels
• Wash hands between clients
• Wipe your builder brush in clarify occasionally to
avoid gel build up
• Fully cure your Gels for the time specified

JESSICA Hand Massage Routine
Hands and arms can hide the most powerful emotions. Tight, clenched hands and arms often reflect insecurity
and unresolved anger, tension in the arms can cause headaches, neck pain and aching shoulders. A hand massage
feels surprisingly good. A lot of tension creeps into the hands and a thorough massage is a reminder of how
much pent-up emotion can be released.
1. Apply favourite JESSICA hand & body lotion by effleurage x 6, over the hand and arm in strong, slow
movements.
2. Starting with the little finger, use small circular movements up and down. Then use quick pulling
movements in a rotation on each individual finger.
3. Use small kneading circular movements in between the metacarpals x 3, working from the wrist to the
fingers and then push up.
4. Friction across the whole back of the hand x 6.
5. Circle around the wrist (carpals) x 6.
6. Kneed from the wrist working on the forearm towards the elbow x 3.
7. Turn (palm facing up) by supporting the hand in yours, open the hand out and kneed the palm with
your thumbs.
8. Use thumbs with static pressure to wrist, move down to centre of palm and apply the third pressure in
line with where the thumb joins the hand.
9. Kneed from the wrist working on the inner forearm towards the elbow x 3.
10. Finish the massage by effleurage over the hand and arm x 6. Sandwich their palm between your
hands and put firm pressure on, hold for a few seconds and release slowly.
With this massage you will be working on pressure points and meridians.
Meridians are lines which run throughout the body ending in your hands and feet. These lines which
have been described as “channels of living magnetic energy”, flow through the body and sometimes get
blocked. With this massage, your can help release tension (blockages) and by working along the meridians,
the Therapist summons energy to the place that most needs it, dispersing trapped energy from areas
where it is congested, this restoring balance.

• If you experience gel build up on your brush, clean the Clarify Cleanser (C). Do not clean
brushes after every use as this may cause yellowing.
STORAGE
• Always store your brush covered to keep bristles clean of dust.
AGE
• Brushes should be changed at least twice a year.
AFTERCARE OF BOTTLES
• It is important to keep the rim of all gel polish bottles clean. If brush bristles get dirty from
coloured gels, clean them with Clarify.
• Close lids tightly.
• Store in a cool, dark place away from direct light and UV lamps.

STEP 1
FORM FIT: While holding back both sides of
the nail form, gently roll back and forth to begin
shaping form into a desired c-curve shape.
Place the form securely against the free edge of
the natural nail. Ensure no gaps occur between
the form, free edge and sidewalls of natural
nail.
Secure the form by pressing along the lateral
walls and pinching front tabs together to accommodate
for your client’s finger size.
STEP 2
Apply thin coat of PREP (P) to natural nail. Be
sure to avoid the surrounding skin area. Always
apply to one hand at a time to avoid contamination.
BUILD Gel has a chemical composition that creates a higher
viscosity soak-off gel for optimum strength and flexibility.
Use to enhance length and shape of a nail or for general repairs
while maintaining a natural look. BUILD can be quickly
and simply removed with JESSICA Erase Soak-Off Remover
and will always require a 2 minute cure under UV lamp or 30
seconds under LED Lamp.
STEP 3
Before using your Pro Builder 9 brush for the first time, use
a small amount of BUILD (B) to work into your brush. Push
your brush onto a form, working the gel in between the
hairs. This will prime brush to make more pliable and may
eliminate air bubbles.
STEP 4
Apply a thin layer of START (S) over the entire natural nail
from the cuticle down to free edge.
Cure under UV lamp for 1 minute or 10 seconds under LED
lamp.
STEP 5
To build up your free edge, use Build (B). With a medium
size bead of Gel, start in one corner of the nail and work
across the form touching the free edge. Then use slow,
circular movements to move gel down to desired length.
Work it across from side to side. Once in place, clean your
brush with Clarify (C) and then swipe your brush across the
form to create your shape and sides. Cure under the UV
lamp for 2 minutes or LED Lamp for 30 seconds. Wipe nail
with CLARIFY with a lint free pad.
STEP 6
Use a larger bead of Build (B) and place it in the centre
of the natural nail. Starting at the cuticle area, use a
small amount of the Gel and work in circular movements
again creating a line close to (but not touching) the cuticle.
Then work back and create sidewalls, making sure
the Apex area has most of the Gel. Once even, cure under
the lamp for 2 minutes.or LED lamp for 30 seconds.
STEP 7
Clean off the tacky residue layer with Clarify (C) on lint
free pad. Use a file to gently buff over and around sides
of the gel nail. This will eliminate lifting and smooth any
uneven surfaces.
STEP 8
Clean off any dust with clarify. Use steps 3-8 of
Soak-Off Gel Application on Page 12
Tech Tip: Clean any excess gel from the cuticle
area with a JESSICA Orangewood stick before curing.
Treatment time approx 1 Hour 30 minutes.
nails in JESSICA Hand & Body Bath. Use JESSICA Nail
Care Machine to tidy Cuticles.
STEP 2
Use GELeration Prepping File to remove all shine from
gel overlay, blending the GELeration finished nails to
the natural nail.
On the natural nail only, gently file using the Gentle
Foam Buffter and then gently apply PREP to any natural
nail showing around cuticle area.
STEP 3
No, there is no scientific evidence to suggest a nail needs to ‘breathe’.
12. Why do I sometimes have a problem curing the manicure?
There are a few reasons why you may experience difficulty in curing:
• Each application must very thin. Many times the application is too thick and
experience curing issues. It is always better to apply product sparingly.
• Check your UV lamp, make sure it is in good working order. The longer you use
the lamp, the more power it loses and dramatically effects curing times.
For best results change light bulbs every 3-4 months.
13. Why do I sometimes experience difficulty removing the gels?
The longer you have the gels on the nail, the longer they will take to remove. A GELeration
manicure of 2 weeks will remove faster than a gel manicure on for 4 weeks. It is also very important
to break the seal. If the seal is not filed enough, the gels will not remove easily.
We do not recommend this.
COLOUR followed by BRILLIANCE to extend the life of the GELeration Manicure.
