Continued from previous page.RN: Organizes and implements a program of p<strong>at</strong>ient care;collabor<strong>at</strong>es with doc<strong>to</strong>rs' orders, dispenses medic<strong>at</strong>ions, assesseseffectiveness of medic<strong>at</strong>ion given and leads educ<strong>at</strong>ional supportgroups. Supervises all aspects of p<strong>at</strong>ient care.LPN: Takes directions from RNs in providing care and supervision forp<strong>at</strong>ients. LPNs also give medic<strong>at</strong>ions. Provide emotional supportand behavioral support for p<strong>at</strong>ients. May supervise the care of MHTsand lead groups.MHTs: A nursing staff member who helps p<strong>at</strong>ients with daily lifetasks like b<strong>at</strong>hing and dressing. The MHTs go with children <strong>to</strong>school <strong>at</strong> <strong>Shodair</strong> and other activities. MHTs provide emotional andbehavioral support around the clock. MHTs may lead educ<strong>at</strong>ionaland support groups <strong>at</strong> the direction of an RN.Ward Clerk: Coordin<strong>at</strong>es p<strong>at</strong>ient appointments and medical records.Also functions as an MHT when needed.Recre<strong>at</strong>ion Therapist: Helps children improve their functioningthrough structured group activities. These activities help childrendevelop leisure skills, explore leisure interests, and improve their levelof particip<strong>at</strong>ion. P<strong>at</strong>ients may also identify barriers <strong>to</strong> involvementand explore meaningful ways <strong>to</strong> make the best of their leisure time.Recre<strong>at</strong>ion Aide: Provides structured recre<strong>at</strong>ional activities under thedirection and supervision of a Rec Therapist.Registered Dietician: Assesses your child's nutritional needs,moni<strong>to</strong>rs weight, and adjusts meal plans as necessary.Teacher: Provides structured classroomactivities <strong>to</strong> promote educ<strong>at</strong>ionalimprovement and assess functioningin the classroom setting.Serves as a liaison betweenthe tre<strong>at</strong>ment team andthe child's school.Teacher's Aide:Assists teacher inclassroom activities.4 Artwork by a <strong>Shodair</strong> p<strong>at</strong>ient
