Particularly, it helps toproduce indices which can be stated asleading indicators.Export Expectation Index increases by 5.9 points to 101.7 in the 1st quarter of 2013from 95.8 in the 4th quarter of 2012.Source: Ministry of EconomyRead the rest of this entry »<strong>SECTORS</strong>Confectionery Exports Up 25%<strong>Turkey</strong>’s confectionery — chocolate and candy — exportswere 25 percent higher last year compared to 2011 due toan increase in promotional activities as well as research anddevelopment (R&D), Turkish Confectionery and SweetPromotion Group Chairman Zekeriya Mete said in a writtenstatement on Tuesday in İstanbul. Mete cited the increasedpromotion of Turkish confectioneries in foreign markets aswell as investments in R&D to improve and diversifyconfectionery products as the reasons for last year’s strongperformance. “The confectionery sector sold $2.5 billionworth of goods overseas in 2012 while this figure was $2billion in the previous year” he said. <strong>Point</strong>ing out that <strong>Turkey</strong> exports confectioneries to200 different countries, Mete cited the EU, North Africa, the US and Turkic republics asmajor confectionery export markets. “We encouraged Turkish confectionery firms toparticipate in foreign trade fairs while attracting foreign customers to come view ourproducts. We could realize even better export figures in 2013″ he explained.
