Galvashield ® CCINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSThe location and spacing of the Galvashield CC units shallbe on a grid pattern as specified by the engineer. Using arebar locator, locate all existing steel within the areadesignated for protection and mark areas to drill unitinstallation holes. When possible, units should be installeda minimum of 100 mm from reinforcing grid.SERIES CONNECTIONA single circuit shall contain no more than 10 GalvashieldCC units. Drill a minimum of 12 mm rebar connection holesper string of anodes. Saw cut a single continuous grooveapproximately 6 mm wide by 12 mm deep into the concreteto interconnect rebar connection holes and anodeconnection holes.PRECAUTIONSGalvashield CC units are not intended to address or repairstructural damage. Where structural damage exists, consulta structural engineer.Galvashield CC anodes are designed to provide galvaniccorrosion control. Corrosion control products significantlyreduce or stop on-going corrosion. Concrete repairs shouldbe completed using Galvashield XP units around theboundary of the patch prior to installing Galvashield CCunits in the remaining unrepaired areas. For more information on corrosion mitigation strategies, contact Parchem.PACKAGINGINDIVIDUAL CONNECTIONDrill one rebar connection hole per unit location. Saw cut agroove approximately 6 mm wide by 12 mm deep into theconcrete to interconnect the rebar connection hole andanode connection hole.*Please refer to the Galvashield CC Installation Guide forfurther details.Galvashield CC unitsGalvashield CC bedding mortarRebar Connection kitAnode Connection kitSetting Tool20 units per box5kg bags, one bag per 20 units20 rebar connectors per box15.2m insulation cable25 wire connectors1 unit per boxReinforcing steel connections should be made using theRebar Connection Kit. Place the weighted end of theconnector into the drilled hole until the steel coil contactsthe reinforcing steel. Feed the steel connector wire throughthe Setting Tool and set into place by striking with ahammer.Connect the units directly to the rebar connection wireusing the supplied wire connector. If installing in series, connect the units to the interconnecting cable with a wireconnector (cable and wire connectors are available as theAnode Connection Kit). Verify continuity between unitlocations and rebar connections with a multi-meter. Aresistance of 1 ohm or less is acceptable.Drill holes as per the dimensions listed above toaccommodate the anodes. Presoak the units for a minimumof 10 to a maximum of 20 minutes in a shallow water bath.Galvashield CC bedding mortar should be used to installthe still wet units into presoaked (saturated-surface dry)holes. Place the mixed embedding mortar into the bottom2/3 of each hole and slowly press in the unit allowing themortar to fill the annular space ensuring there are no airvoids between the unit and the parent concrete. Theminimum unit cover depth shall be 20 mm.STORAGEStore in dry conditions in the original unopened boxes.Avoid extremes of temperature and humidity. Units shouldbe installed within one year.HEALTH AND SAFETYAs with all cement-based materials, contact with moisturecan release alkalis which may be harmful to exposed skin.Galvashield CC and Galvashield CC bedding mortar shouldbe handled with suitable gloves and other personalprotective equipment in accordance with standardprocedures for handling cementitious materials. Mix leftover water from the unit bath with cementitious materialand dispose by normal means after hardening. Additionalsafety information is included in the Material Safety DataSheet.Place wires into grooves and top off unit holes and saw cutsflush to the concrete surface with embedding mortar.Embedding mortar should be wet cured or cured with acuring compound and protected from traffic for 24 hours.3
