Includingthe post-1989 period, for example, would have transgressed the frameworkof a historical bibliography, by advancing in the fields of sociology,political science and social anthropology. Notwithstanding these limitations,it is hoped that the reader will get an insight into the differences andsimilarities between the historiographical discourses put forward in thetwo countries. The bibliography is also intended to highlight thoseresearch areas that could enhance the scholarly interaction among studentsof Romanian-Hungarian relations in particular, and of East-CentralEuropean history in general. The authors believe that the only way toovercome the trap of ideological debates and to reconsider our respectiveconceptual canons and historical narratives leads through the creation ofsmall, but methodologically sound, interfaces of cooperation, crystallizedaround well-formulated “technical” questions.
