The outstation has approximately 1600’ of docking space servicedwith potable water and 30-amp power. Shore facilities include decks, ice machine andstorage, barbecues, the Cortes Room, two heads with showers, a laundry, and three fullyequipped cabins.RULES SPECIFIC TO THE CORTES BAY OUTSTATION1. No boat shall be moored at the Cortes Bay Outstation for a total of more than sevendays in any fourteen-day period during the months of July and August. Exceptionsmay be permitted subject to consultation with the Outstation Manager regardingavailability of space.2. Rafting is common during the peak months of June, July, and August. Accordingly,members with boats tied to the dock are required to rig their outside fenders toaccommodate rafting.3. Boats 60’ and over are requested to moor on the outside of either pier, if space isavailable. This will allow for easier access to the inner sections of piers for rafting.4. Waterskiing from the outstation in Cortes Bay will not be permitted.5. Oysters must be shucked on the beach or, if shucked elsewhere, their shells returnedto their beach of origin.6. The cabins may be reserved for use by adult members and their guests subject to theterms and conditions of the cabin procedures (see below) established by the outstationcommittee.7. Disposal of garbage is difficult and expensive at the Cortes Bay Outstation. Allmembers are required to sort garbage by separating cans, bottles, and paper productswhen depositing garbage at the outstation.8. Members shall observe a speed limit of 5 knots within Cortes Bay.9. A reciprocal arrangement between Royal Vancouver Yacht Club (RVYC) and SeattleYacht Club (SYC) exists at Cortes Bay for visitation and dinghy moorage. Pleasewelcome our RVYC guests from across the bay, and feel comfortable in visiting theirfacility via dinghy.10. The Cortes Room is open to club member use from 0700 hours until 2200 hours dailyunless special approval is granted by the manager for events or special circumstances.

REMINDERSMembers are reminded of the danger of the shoals and/or rocks in the general area of theentrance to Cortes Bay (see appropriate chart).Because of the relatively limited moorage space, dinghies should be tied so as not to takeup dock space or impede rafting.Rules governing all outstations apply.<strong>CORTES</strong> <strong>BAY</strong> OUTSTATION CABIN RULES AND REGULATIONSRESERVATIONS:1. Cabins are available for occupancy from April 1 through October 31 (weatherpermitting).2. The definition of “adult member” is a member of the <strong>Seattle</strong> <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, includingspousal members but excluding any <strong>Seattle</strong> <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong> member under 18 years ofage.3. Reservations open at 7:00 a.m. on the second Monday of each March. Reservationsshall be made in person by the adult member occupying the cabin to be reserved. Inaddition an adult member can designate another adult member as proxy to make cabinreservations. No adult member shall be a proxy for more than one other adultmember. An adult member shall make no more than one reservation per day. If anadult member desires to make reservations for both that adult member, and foranother adult member by proxy, one reservation or the other must be made on asubsequent day. Members who are unable to obtain a reservation of their choice shallbe put on a waiting list. If a cancellation occurs, members on the waiting list shall becontacted in the order they are on the waiting list and given the option to accept thecancelled reservation within 24 hours of being contacted.4. A sign-up sheet for order of arrival will be posted on the Main Station basement southentrance. This allows members to wait in their automobile if they chose instead ofstanding outside in line for the 7:00 a.m. opening.5. Only one cabin may be reserved by an adult member for any given time period.6. An adult member who properly reserves and occupies a cabin may moor a smallcruising boat under 30 feet in length, without adequate living facilities, as allowed inthe General Rules Governing All <strong>Club</strong> Outstations Rule #22.7. BC Ferries: 1-800-223-3779CABIN UTILIZATION:1. Cabins must be occupied by the adult member whose name appears on the reservationform.2. No Recreational Vehicle’s (RV’s) are permitted on the premises. No boats arepermitted on the premises except boats owned by SYC members.


3. Cabin check in time is 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Check out time is 10:00 a.m. the followingSunday.4. Except as otherwise noted, use of all facilities at this outstation are available to cabinguests.5. Adult members occupying cabins are permitted to keep a car top, or trailered boatunder 30 feet in length, at the dock.CHARGES:1. At the time a reservation is made, the account of the adult member in whose name thereservation is made, will be charged a cleaning deposit of $100.00 (US). The depositis not refundable and represents the actual direct cost of cabin cleaning or as anadministrative fee in instance of reservation default.2. Any remaining balance will be refunded to the account of the adult member within 60days or two billing cycles after the end of the cabin occupancy.3. A penalty charge of $375 will be charged to the adult member if a reservation duringthe months of July or August is not cancelled on or before May 15 of that year. If thecabin reservation for which a cancellation was received after the May 15 date issubsequently used by another member, the penalty charge will be reversed.Regardless of the penalty assessment members are responsible to notify the office ofall cancellations at the earliest possible date.4. Damage or loss to the cabin, including but not limited to contents, is the financialresponsibility of the adult member in whose name the reservation was made.LENGTH OF STAY:1. Adult members may reserve a cabin for no more than one seven consecutive day stayduring the months of July and August. Reservations for successive seven day staysduring the months of April, May, June, or September may be made at the discretionof the Cortes Bay Committee Chairperson. No additional deposit or cleaning fee shallbe charged for such successive seven day stays.2. Should a cabin remain unreserved ten days prior to the occupancy date, an adultmember who already has a July or August reservation may reserve the cabin. Thisexception includes the potential for an adult member to have two consecutive weeksof reservations in July and August. A $100.00 (US) deposit is required for each suchadditional reservation.FACILITIES:1. Each cabin has a living room, kitchenette, bedroom, and bath with shower.2.
