WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN THE INSTITUTE OF COACHING PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION InstituteofCoaching.org Our mission: The Institute of Coaching’s mission is to support the scientific foundation of coaching. For the coaching profession to be robust it needs sound theory, scientific substantiation, competent practitioners, and the capacity to effectively use emergent processes. We support these activities in a variety of ways, including research grants and practitioner/research forums. The ICPA, our new member-­‐donor professional organization, is creating a new and vital networking community along with a comprehensive website that provides you with access to cutting edge information on the science and practice of coaching. The ICPA -­‐ our largest initiative to date – will help to spin the straw of research into the gold of best practice with the intention of helping members to readily access the information, resources, and networking opportunities needed to further develop their coaching practice, and the field as a whole. The ICPA is: a top-­‐tier educational resource for anyone interested in coaching and wanting to participate in a vibrant community. The ICPA is not: an organization that credentials coaches, offers extended coach training or coaching services. We are committed to not compete with those we serve. We hope you will join us! Here are a few details about what you’ll find in the member-­‐donor website: Featured fellows: Each month, up to four of our fellows are featured. You’ll get to know your colleagues’ coaching interests, practice, and areas of expertise. MasterClasses: These are like mini conferences or workshops in a digital format. Each one explores a focused topic important to coaching. They can include webinars, podcast interviews, video, articles, and commentary. Each MasterClass is designed by experts around a particular theory-­‐based topic that has potential ramifications for coaching practice. They are intended to add depth to your knowledge and vocabulary in a succinct format. Directors Corner: This is where we share updates on the ICPA and our own activities and articles. Content Domains: Going across our navigation on top, you’ll see four content domains -­‐ Coaching Practices, Leadership, Health & Wellness, and Positive Psychology. Under each of these domains you’ll find all kinds of resources, including our unique multimedia guides called “Learning Tours.” Tours compile and synthesize information into easily digested 10-­‐15 minute experiential modules that are grouped under five categories: • The Basics: e.g., definitions of the field, introductions to thought leaders, best books and research • What’s New: Upcoming conferences, new books, new research, and new ideas. • Top Picks: Classic information in an area, key concepts, best books, key research. • Good to Great: Advanced or specialized material including access to primary resources and taking a deeper dive into an area. • It’s About Results: Introductions (videos etc) of top researchers, then summaries of important research, and introduction to coaching research and methods. We invite you to submit learning tours for review and possible inclusion on the site! Library Our library is a one-­‐of-­‐a-­‐kind resource in coaching. We are using your donations to purchase organizational subscriptions to key coaching and positive psychology journals so that you have the same level of access to the literature that you would if you were affiliated with an educational institution. This is a long-­‐term mission whose success depends on our membership. In the meantime, we are combing the literature for abstracts (summaries) of important conceptual and research articles to at least help keep you abreast of where the field is at.

We hope you will join us! Discussions: We will soon have blogs and discussion groups. Choose a topic that interests you and join us! Levels of ICPA Membership: You are invited to join us as an Affiliate, a Member, or a Fellow, depending on the level of direct interaction with colleagues, number of MasterClasses available to you per year, and visibility on the website that you’d like to have.
