Astheir name is by no means unknown in Prague and its surrounding area, we entered theestablishment with fairly high expectations.The first plus point we noticed isits extremely strategic location.All you have to do is to get offa bus from Budějovická,... and you arehere. Are you coming from Budějovickáon foot? You still can’t miss this newcafé. And you will almost certainlynotice it while driving your car throughBB Centrum, being situated at a majorintersection along the main street, asyou leisurely scan the area while waitingfor the light to change.The Quality Based on DetailsWhat also deserves a positive assessmentis the interior. The stylish, modernenvironment, with comfortable seats inthe corporate colour scheme, invites youto come in and sit down. Not to mentionrefrigerated display cases filled with allthe goodies! The assortment is actuallyvery wide here, so you can hardly believethat this vast variety of cakes, desserts,open sandwiches, baguettes and icecream, rather than being delivered froma delicatessen wholesaler, have beenproduced in the confectioner’s ownfacility. Anyway, you can “taste on yourvery tongue” to confirm that they offeroriginal products made from quality,meticulously selected ingredients. Thefirst taste alone will prove that you arenot eating some prefabricated substancefull of cheap substitutes and “whippedwater”.The high quality of Mr and Mrs Hájek’sproducts can be also exemplified by theiruse of real dairy (rather than vegetable)cream for decorating cakes and desserts.Also, the main ingredient in theircheesecakes is genuine Philadelphiacream cheese from the US. And wecan find even more details behindthe success and acclaim of the fourconfectioner’s shops run by Hájek &Hájková.Obliging Staff and Wi-FiThe staff certainly deserve another wordof praise. The service is professional, fastand, most importantly, pleasant. A smileon their lips and a helpful demeanourare par for the course. Hájek & Hájkovávalue the customer highly and theiremployees clearly do their work withlove. Whether you’ve come only forcup of coffee, an ice cream or an opensandwich, you needn’t worry that youwill be a nuisance to them with such asmall order.Favourable also are the opening hours:from 7 am to 7 pm on weekdays,opening three hours later at weekends.If you arrive one hour before the closingtime, you are entitled to a 30% discounton all the cakes, desserts and opensandwiches – all the products must besold out, because fresh goods, producedduring the night, are delivered in themorning.24
