The whole combinedtestimony of preceding ages has been againstthe possibility of such operations ; but this isa consideration of no value whatever in viswof the testimony of the surgeons who takepart in the hazardous and responsible, butmost beneficent work, and of those professionalmen who have come from France, andRussia, and other lands, to witness the operation,and of citizens well acquainted withpatients who have been delivered from a burdenedlife, overshadowed with prospect ofearly death.
