The World GolfHall of Fame is located at World Golf Village in St.Augustine, FL.The MembersThe 71 players and contributors inducted into theformer Hall of Fame in Pinehurst, NC, and the L<strong>PGA</strong>Hall of Fame were “grandfathered” into the World GolfHall of Fame at the first induction ceremony held atWorld Golf Village in May 1998.Nick Faldo and Johnny Miller were the first newplayers to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame,and Amy Alcott, Seve Ballesteros and Lloyd Mangrumentered in 1999. Beth Daniel, Juli Inkster and JudyRankin were inducted as part of the 2000 inductionceremony, along with Deane Beman, Sir MichaelBonallack, Jack Burke Jr., John Jacobs and Neil Coles.Donna Caponi, Karsten Solheim, Judy Bell, AllanRobertson, Payne Stewart and Greg Norman wereinducted in 2001 and were followed by Tommy Bolt, BenWorld Golf Hall of FameJack PeterVice President andChief Operating OfficerWorld Golf Hall of FameCrenshaw, Marlene Hagge, Tony Jacklin, Bernhard Langer and Harvey Penick in2002. In 2003, Leo Diegel, Hisako “Chako” Higuchi, Nick Price and AnnikaSorenstam were brought in, pushing the total number of inductees to 100.The MuseumThe World Golf Hall of Fame includes memorabilia from its members aswell as interactive exhibits and historical artifacts. In October of 2003, fournew exhibits were unveiled to pay tribute to the Class of 2003, including the<strong>PGA</strong> <strong>TOUR</strong>’s Nick Price. The exhibits follow the lives and careers of the mostrecent inductees through memorabilia and photos.The museum also includes a life-size replica of the famous Swilcan BurnBridge, an artificial 1880s-style putting green, with a hickory-shafted putterand gutta-percha ball from the era, and a state-of-the-art golf simulator, whichallows guests to experience any one of more than 40 famous courses foundaround the world. The experience is never the same, with the museum’sWachovia Gallery featuring a new exhibit each year.Guests visiting the Hall of Fame have the opportunity to take afascinating one-hour behind-the-scenes tour with one of its knowledgeablevolunteers. Visitors wishing to tour at their own pace can use a hand-heldAcoustiguide ® , with self-guided tours available in five languages.EducationAs part of its mission to be an inspiration to golfers and fans throughoutthe world, the World Golf Hall of Fame offers several initiatives to educateand connect children with the game. Three programs, sponsored by Shell OilCompany, are offered to teach children about various principles involved in thegame: “Science of Golf,” “Great Scot!
