Thomas Bjorn of Denmarkwithdrew due to illness and was replaced byAnders Hansen and joined Soren Kjeldsen.The winning South African team of TrevorImmelman/Rory Sabbatini shared $1,400,000($700,000) in prize money. Immelman’s largestpayday before was $460,045 when he finishedsecond at the 2003 Volvo <strong>PGA</strong> Championship, whileSabbatini’s best payday came early in 2003 whenhe won the FBR Capital Open and collected$810,000.The winning South Africa Team of RorySabbatini/Trevor Immelman can return andrepresent South Africa this year in Sevilla, Spain,provided they enter as a team. If the defendingchampions enter the World Cup as a team, then asecond team from the same country would beeligible, provided there is a player from the samecountry ranked ahead of at least one of the twodefending champions. If such a second team fromthe same country becomes available, then onadditional spot will be allocated to the WorldQualifying Competition (seven spots instead of six)raising the World Cup field size to 26 teams.The “young guns” of the event representingEngland, Paul Casey (26)/Justin Rose (23)finished alone in second in their secondappearance at the WGC-World Cup. The two werethe youngest team in the 2002 and 2003 WorldCup.
