THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIPNOTESWith his final-round 8-under-par 64 in 2003, DavisLove III tied Fred Couples for low final round atTHE PLAYERS Championship. Couples, who playedwith Love in the final round in 2003, carded a 64 inhis winning effort in 1996. The 64 for Love tied forhis career third-lowest final round on the <strong>PGA</strong><strong>TOUR</strong>, behind a 62 at the 1992 Kmart GreaterGreensboro Open and a 63 at the 2001 AT&T PebbleBeach National Pro-Am. Love’s final-round 64 wasalso his career best in 59 rounds at THE PLAYERSChampionship, besting a 66 in 1997 and 1994.En route to his win in 2003, Davis Love IIIrecorded five straight birdies (Nos. 8-12) for thesecond time during the week.Davis Love III became the fourth player in 2003 tocapture two <strong>PGA</strong> <strong>TOUR</strong> events through 13 <strong>TOUR</strong>events, joining Ernie Els, Mike Weir and TigerWoods.
