I wantedto live the American dream.My reality looked like this: I attended and graduated from collegewith a master’s degree to increase the odds of landing that perfectjob, signed a contract for employment after three months of searchingand immediately started making plans to enjoy my arrival intothe “real world.” My day included the infamous 8-to-5 work routine,which I learned to get used to because there were not many otheroptions. I ran my errands after work like everybody else and thenturned to television to unwind before I finally went off to bed, onlyto start the next day all over again.
