The high-grade granulate producedis used in agriculture as a soil amendment andin the fertilizer blending industry.Cement works in Turkeyuses waste heat efficientlyThe sewage sludge drying plant supplied to Nuh Cimentocement works, Turkey, was handed over successfully.The plant makes particularly efficient use ofthe waste heat from cement production: With evaporationperformance of more than 8 t/h, the sewage sludgeis dried by the waste heat, while around 2,250 kg ofgranulate are produced per hour and reused as auxiliaryfuel (10,000-12,000 KJ/kg) in cement production.The entire heating system for the dryer operates separatelyand does not influence the rotary kiln in any way.Newly developed sewage sludge dryerThe business area will supply sewage sludge dryersfor the municipal wastewater treatment plants in Suwalkiand Koszalin, Poland. These dryers are part of anewly developed modular series comprising five dryersizes (evaporation rate: 1,000-3,000 kg H 2O/h), thuscomplying in particular with the requirements of smallerto medium-sized municipal wastewater plants. Thesludge input module and the granulate output modulecan be used in two sizes for all five dryers without anytechnical modifications. Furthermore, these new dryersare very service-friendly because the number ofrotating parts has been minimized.Belt dryer for biomass gasificationplant in Finnish pulp millAs part of an order awarded to the PULP & PAPERbusiness area to deliver a biomass gasification plantfor Metsä-Botnia’s Joutseno pulp mill, Finland, theSEPARATION business area will supply the belt dryerfor wood chip and bark drying. In order to guaranteeoptimum economical operations, the belt dryer hasbeen designed as a hybrid model (water evaporationrate: 12 t/h). The waste heat from the existing pulpmill is used as drying energy for the low-temperaturebelt dryer.Sludge treatment plant in Düsseldorf,Germany: more output, enhanced safetyThe city of Düsseldorf, Germany, awarded ANDRITZ torebuild the Düsseldorf-Nord sewage sludge treatmentplant. Thanks to a new back-mixing process, productionand safety in the plant can be optimized, and themaintenance effort required is reduced considerablyas some equipment units are no longer needed.
