Two-thirds (76percent) ate somewhat less, the same or more (continuedfeeding), but 24 percent ate much less or ate almostnothing. Overall, 38 percent <strong>of</strong> children in rural areaswere given more to drink compared with 26 percent <strong>of</strong>children from urban areas with diarrhoea.Table CH.3 shows the proportion <strong>of</strong> children aged 0–59months with diarrhoea in the two weeks precedingthe survey who received oral rehydration therapy withcontinued feeding, and the percentage <strong>of</strong> children withdiarrhoea who received other treatments. Overall, 57percent <strong>of</strong> children with diarrhoea received ORS orincreased fluids, 83 percent received ORT (ORS orrecommended homemade fluids or increased fluids),while 12 percent received no treatment (Table CH.3).Combining the information in Table CH.2 with thosein Table CH.1 on oral rehydration therapy, it is observedthat 60 percent <strong>of</strong> children either received ORT and,at the same time, feeding was continued, as is therecommendation.
