AcknowledgementsA number <strong>of</strong> people contributed to the development <strong>of</strong> this survey and report with their pr<strong>of</strong>essional knowledge,personal enthusiasm and commitment to ensure a better life for all children in Serbia.As in previous MICS rounds, the survey concept, including improvements and innovations, was created and led byUNICEF’s Global MICS team. Ivana Bjelic and Turgay Unalan gave important technical support on data processingand analysis. Siraj Mahmudlu supported the process throughout and made constructive contributions to the draftreport. The Global MICS process was led by Attila Hancioglu, whose leadership, vast experience and endless patience,were <strong>of</strong> critical importance in overcoming challenges during the survey and the report generation.For the second time, the Director <strong>of</strong> the Statistical Office <strong>of</strong> the Republic <strong>of</strong> Serbia, Dragan Vukmirovic, committedhis institution to a partnership with UNICEF in implementing the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey in Serbia.His team, ably led by Dragana Djokovic–Papic, demonstrated great knowledge, flexibility and enthusiasm. MirjanaOgrizovic–Brasanac meticulously coordinated the sampling, while Jovanka Stojanovic and Vladica Jankovicdemonstrated commitment and pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism in completing each phase <strong>of</strong> the survey with the highest possiblequality and in a timely manner. All the survey teams, including co-ordinators, field staff and data entry staff, carriedout their work diligently and efficiently.The UNICEF Serbia team, led by Judita Reichenberg and Lesley Miller, patiently provided their comments, expertiseand support during all phases <strong>of</strong> the implementation <strong>of</strong> MICS4. Goran Milovanovic, as the MICS4 consultant,also provided significant assistance. Overall country-level coordination <strong>of</strong> the survey was competently managed byAleksandra Jovic.The support <strong>of</strong> line ministries and experts, through inputs to the questionnaire design and to the final reportwas very helpful. Particularly valuable was the support <strong>of</strong> the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit <strong>of</strong> theGovernment <strong>of</strong> Serbia, which participated in all stages <strong>of</strong> MICS4 as part <strong>of</strong> the Technical Committee.Finally, it must also be noted that the data collection would not have been possible without the individuals andhouseholds <strong>of</strong> Serbia, including those living in Roma settlements, who generously opened their homes and gave theirtime to the realization <strong>of</strong> this survey.
