The response rates for households across residencewere as expected, with lower response rates of 95percent for urban areas. The response rate for men,78 percent, was much lower than for women andchildren.Characteristics of HouseholdsThe weighted age and sex distribution of the surveypopulation is provided in Table HH.2R. The age distribution for Roma settlements indicates thatthe proportion of children under the age of 4 is highest(about 14 percent), and then in each subsequent age-groupthe proportion of the population decreases. Childrenup to 17 years of age constitute about 40 percent of thepopulation, while only 3 percent belong to the group over65 years of age. There was almost no difference betweenmale and female distribution in the broad age groups.Figure HH.1R: Age and sex distribution of householdpopulation, Roma settlements, 2010Tables HH.3R–HH.5R provide basic informationon the households, female respondents aged 15–49,male respondents aged 15–29, and children under-5 bypresenting the unweighted, as well as the weighted numbers.Information on the basic characteristics of households,women, men and children under-5 interviewed in the surveyis essential for the interpretation of findings presentedlater in the report and can also provide an indication of therepresentativeness of the survey. The remaining tables inthis report are presented only with weighted numbers.
