Use <strong>of</strong> Information/CommunicationTechnology in Roma SettlementsAs displayed in Table MT.2R, 46 percent <strong>of</strong> 15–24 year oldwomen from Roma settlements had ever used a computer,39 percent had used a computer during the last year and 30percent had used one at least once a week during the lastmonth. Overall, 30 percent <strong>of</strong> women aged 15–24 had everused the internet, while 25 percent had used the internetduring the last year. The proportion <strong>of</strong> young women whohad used the internet more frequently, at least once a weekduring the last month, is smaller at 22 percent.One very positive finding is that both computerand internet use during the last 12 months is morewidespread among 15–19 year old women than foramong women aged between 20–24. Use <strong>of</strong> a computerand the internet is strongly associated with educationand wealth.Only 13 percent <strong>of</strong> women with no education reportedusing a computer during the last year, while 86 percent <strong>of</strong>women with secondary education had used a computer.Similarly higher utilisation <strong>of</strong> the internet is observedamong young women in urban areas (31 percent) comparedto those in rural areas (13 percent).
