women from Roma settlements had been tested forHIV and 29 percent knew where testing can be done.Values are the same for young men (15–29) for testing,but a little bit higher for knowing a place (36 percent).•Among women aged 15–49 that have given birthwithin the two years preceding the survey, 19 percentreceived HIV counseling. The values are higher forwomen in Belgrade (33 percent) and those with thehighest education (26 percent). Only 6 percent <strong>of</strong>all women in Roma settlements had received HIVcounseling during antenatal care.Sexual behaviour•61 percent <strong>of</strong> all young women and 70 percent <strong>of</strong> youngmen aged 15–24 years had had sex. Forty one percent<strong>of</strong> women and 61 percent <strong>of</strong> men had had sex witha non-regular partner in the 12 months precedingthe survey. A condom was used by 77 percent <strong>of</strong>young women and 80 percent <strong>of</strong> men who had sexualintercourse with their last non-regular partner.•Seventy-three percent <strong>of</strong> young women and 71 percent<strong>of</strong> young men (15–24) living in Roma settlements hadhad sex. Nine percent <strong>of</strong> young women and 32 percent<strong>of</strong> men from Roma settlements had had sex withnon-regular partners. Usage <strong>of</strong> condom in this high-risk intercourse is very low among young women (37percent) and a bit higher among men (51 percent).•The number <strong>of</strong> women who had sex before the age<strong>of</strong> 15 is very low — 2 percent <strong>of</strong> young women and 4percent <strong>of</strong> young men. On the other hand, 14 percent <strong>of</strong>young women and 13 percent <strong>of</strong> young men from Romasettlements had sex before the age <strong>of</strong> 15.•Having sex with a partner 10 or more years olderis reported by 4 percent <strong>of</strong> young women from thenational sample and by 6 percent <strong>of</strong> young womenliving in Roma settlements (more in rural than urbanareas). For men, it is below 1 percent for both samples.Exposure to Mass Media and ICT•Fifty eight percent <strong>of</strong> all women aged 15–49 wereexposed to all three mass media (watch television,listen to the radio and read newspapers) at least oncea week, while less than 1 percent <strong>of</strong> women receivedno media exposure. Only 19 percent <strong>of</strong> women inRoma settlements were exposed to three mass mediaat least once a week. Sixty percent <strong>of</strong> all men aged15–29, but only one quarter <strong>of</strong> young men in Romasettlements, were exposed to all three mass mediaat least once a week.•The majority <strong>of</strong> young women aged 15–24 (91 percent)had used a computer, and 85 percent had usedthe internet during the last 12 months. In Romasettlements, only 39 percent <strong>of</strong> young women hadused a computer and 25 percent had used the internetduring the last 12 months. Usage <strong>of</strong> computers andinternet among young men is higher: 93 percent hadused computers and 86 percent had used internet inthe last 12 months. In Roma settlements, 63 percent <strong>of</strong>young men had used a computer and 52 percent usedthe internet during the last 12 months.Subjective Well-being•Overall, 67 percent <strong>of</strong> women and 68 percent <strong>of</strong>men aged 15–24 years were satisfied with life. Theproportion <strong>of</strong> women that are satisfied with life issomewhat higher in urban areas (70 percent) thanin rural areas (61 percent). For young men, thedifferentials in terms <strong>of</strong> background characteristics aregenerally similar to those observed for young women.Among young persons aged 15–24 living in Romasettlements, only 59 percent <strong>of</strong> women and 53 percent<strong>of</strong> men were satisfied with life.•Among the same age group, a similar percentage <strong>of</strong>women and men were very or somewhat happy (93and 92 percent respectively). The proportion in Romasettlements was 87 percent for both men and women.•The proportion <strong>of</strong> women aged between 15–24 yearswho thought that their lives had improved during theprevious year and believed that it would get better afterone year, is 43 percent. The corresponding indicatorfor men aged 15–24 years is lower than that <strong>of</strong> youngwomen (36 percent).
