The use <strong>of</strong> contraceptives is slightly higher (69 percent)in rural than in urban areas (61 percent). Adolescentsare less likely to use contraception than older womenfrom Roma settlements. Only 41 percent <strong>of</strong> married orin-union women aged 15–19 currently use a method <strong>of</strong>contraception compared to 59 percent <strong>of</strong> 20–24 year oldsand 78 percent <strong>of</strong> older women (35–39 years old).Women’s education level is directly associated withcontraceptive prevalence. The percentage <strong>of</strong> women fromRoma settlements using any method <strong>of</strong> contraceptionrises from 53 percent among those with no educationto 70 percent among women with secondary education.Traditional methods are pre-dominant in Romasettlements and are used by 58 percent <strong>of</strong> women witheven higher prevalence in rural areas (65 percent).
