HandwashingHandwashing with water and soap is the most costeffective health intervention to reduce the incidence ofboth diarrhoea and pneumonia in children under five.It is most effective when done using water and soapafter visiting a toilet or cleaning a child, before eating orhandling food and, before feeding a child. Monitoringcorrect hand washing behaviour at these critical timesis challenging.
