SUMMER <strong>2008</strong>CREDIT/NON-CREDIT WORKSHOPSThe Pennsylvania Academy <strong>of</strong> Fine ArtsThis workshop highlights the nation’s oldest museum and artschool displaying American art. Designed by Frank Furness,the museum was founded in 1805. The collection, surveyingAmerican art from the late 1700s to the 20 th century, consists<strong>of</strong> paintings, sculptures and works on paper ranging fromcolonial masters such as Robert Feke, John Singleton Copley,and Benjamin West to major contemporary artists includingRichard Diebenkorn, Red Grooms, and Faith Ringgold.Students meet on campus Friday evening for an overview <strong>of</strong>the process <strong>of</strong> creating works <strong>of</strong> art and a “hands-on”exploration <strong>of</strong> the techniques employed. On Saturday, theclass meets at the entrance to the museum.
